What Midpeninsula District Rangers Do

Medical Emergencies

Midpeninsula District Rangers are trained Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and respond to medical emergencies in District preserves.

General Maintenance

Downed trees, damaged signs, restrooms need restocked? These are part of the tasks of the Rangers. While many maintenance tasks are shared with other District staff, Rangers help out when and where they can, while maintaining a readiness for emergencies.

Law Enforcement

Midpeninsula District Rangers are the District’s designated police force. As California Peace Officers, they ensure the safety of all visitors and the conservation of the preserves through law enforcement.

Interpretive Education

Midpeninsula District Rangers are certified as interpretative guides. They create and run interpretive education events in preserves and at other locations, including schools.

Fire Suppression & Prevention

Trained and equipped as wildland firefighters, Midpeninsula District Rangers respond to fires on District lands as well as mutual aid requests for assistance within the boundaries of the District.
